Where do I start? I’ve been staring at this screen for a while trying to work out what it is that I want to say.
I used to write quite a bit when I was younger. I wanted to be an author and a journalist at points in my life (I now work as a Social Researcher).
I’ve had lots of ideas over the years of what I could write about and share. I used to write poetry, parts of stories, and essay type pieces. I shared some of them on a Blogger I used to have, although they are now all archived.
It’s strange looking back at my old writings. It’s not until you look that you notice how much you’ve changed.
I’m a 90s baby. I lived abroad as a child for a few years. I’ve grown up both in a time of minimal technological use and seen and adapted to the crazy connected and online world we live in today.
I’ve been to university, lived through the ‘quarter life crisis’, and have come out the other side with a job I really enjoy, a loving husband, home, and community. I’ve been fortunate, yes, but I’ve also had my struggles, my low days, my panics and fears. Yet, I’ve made it so far.
So, what is this Substack going to be? Well, It might evolve but for now I plan to use it as a space to share some of my story, tips for navigating life’s path, and maybe even some past writings. Things that may or may not be helpful to you.
I can’t promise what I write will be good or frequent (I do have a full time job, home, and other life commitments). However, what I write will (I hope) always be from the heart, aiming to be helpful, and true to myself.
Writing for me was always a way to process, reflect, explore, and deal with emotions I was having. I know there is still much I don’t know and more for me to learn and live. Maybe we can learn together.
If you would like to stick around, hopefully you will find this Substack helpful, useful, or at least interesting. Do feel free to introduce yourself in the comments section. If you need a prompt - ‘What’s one thing you are grateful about in your life today?’
Best Wishes,
M
